My best career training

In the second year of forestry, we have a few training, most of them were for Biotic Component of the Ecosystem. And unfortunately I can´t go to Practice one in December of the past year.

But my best career training was the first of all. Was on march of the last year, in Pantanillos of Maule. This is the introductory practice of the career. And lasted a week.

This was about the principal topic of the career. Like Biotic component of the ecosystem, Abiotic component of the ecosystem and Rif (in Spanish, El ingeniero forestal y su rol en la sociedad). The things we must do; was like the other training we have. In a whole week we learn about stuff that a forester does in a work day.

This practice it has been the best so far because in that training I met amazing people, who are my friends now. Was really fun and nice work with new people and met the teacher who do the lessons the rest of the year. And some tips received in Pantanillos help me nowadays for other trainings.

I learn how to measure a tree, work in groups, do a trial pit and analyses them, analyses the problem of the urban woodland in the city and how the pine monoculture change the environment and the lifestyle of the people who live in or near of this.

Post Graduate Studies

Hi everyone, I will talk about a post graduate studies. For a little part of the population, take a post graduate course in not necessary, but most of people think the opposite, that is very important have a lot of knowledge or had a specialization in some area in which you have more places to work.
The principal reason to do a course after graduate is for get other abilities that don’t learn in the under graduate education, because is specialised in what you want to do in the near future. In other words, it is what I said before: “Get more knowledge for the future”.

Some subjects I would to like to study on a post graduate course maybe can be related with   Silviculture area or woodland, the second one towards to the urban woodland.

I would like study abroad. I really think that out of Chile are better opportunities to study, because is other reality and other environment, so have different points of view for a same problem.

In this case, I would like to study in part-time course or in a blended system. I think this forms can help me with organizes my free time.

After all what I said, here goes my personal appreciation. I am not sure if I will take a post graduate course or not. I mean, I have like four years to think about it.

My future job

Hey everyone, today I will write about a thing that I am really afraid to think, the future, to be more specific, to my FUTURE JOB.

To be honest, I am not very sure about my future job. I cannot imagine that, because I am really afraid of thinking in the future. But I can imagine myself working in investigation with the professionals from the silviculture area or in the urban woodland.

This kind of job requires working outdoor, on the forest, brushwood or meadow. There is a lot of measuring that has to do with the field, like forest inventory or doing existence table. Regarding the urban woodland, it requires a little less outdoor measuring. Anyway, in both cases you have to visit the field.

I will like to travel a lot in the job, because the most of the investigations are in the south of Chile. Or maybe travel to other mainland to study about the urban woodland in others cities and countries.

About the salary, I just hope to have enough to live without economic problems.

I am not sure if I want to take a major in silviculture or in urban woodland. Because I have had the opportunity to talk and work with professionals of both areas, and I really love the work that they realize and how they help the society.
